I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Nevada. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2014. My background in sociology taught me to engage individuals and groups within a broader social context. As a social worker I gained experience with connecting people to resources and honed my clinical skills. Throughout my social work and clinical experience, I have learned that empowerment is the willingness and ability to accept your humanity. My therapeutic philosophy is to help you help yourself; change is a choice not an expectation. My objective is to help my clients identify/refine goals and progress towards their aspirations.
My experience in the Social Work field started in 2006 and spans from residential treatment centers, day treatment, foster care agencies, to Child Protective Services. I have worked for both inpatient psychiatric hospitals and outpatient mental health agencies. In the community I have provided crisis counseling following significant traumatic events and provided trainings on mental/behavioral health. I also teach part time in the Social Work program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Having been trained in various treatment modalities: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Parts and Memory Therapy, and Family Systems I am experienced with providing individual, family and group therapy to people of all ages starting at age 6.
As a therapist I value the importance of relationships and creating a space for you to feel comfortable with expressing yourself. I believe in a client centered approach utilizing unique and creative methods. One of my strengths are assessing client needs and developing a comprehensive treatment plan in collaboration with the client to address those needs.
